PROJECT OVERVIEW

Westlink was engaged to manage the logistics for the delivery of eight (8) used heavy haul locomotives from Iowa, USA to landing the locomotives on track in Port Hedland, Australia.

SCOPE

  • Rail pull – locomotive factory, Iowa to Port of Norfolk, USA

  • Pre-shipment quarantine inspection and cleaning of locomotives

  • Heavy Lift Vessel (HLV) – Norfolk, USA to Port Hedland, Australia

  • Heavy Haulage – from vessel hook to port lay down and then to customer’s Port Hedland rail yard

  • Quarantine cleaning of locomotives and coordination with security clearances

  • Craneage – gantry lifting and landing of locomotives from heavy haul trailers to rail head
